CleanTalk is blocking my (first) question...
« on: October 11, 2022, 08:39:13 PM »
I think I'm being blocked...

EDIT: guess not anymore. I was trying to post a question, but the anti spam system blocked me saying my network is suspicious.

EDIT 2: tried to post it again and got this message.

CleanTalk: *** Forbidden. Your IP belongs to a high spam risk network. ***

I'm no spammer, I swear! I'm just a beginner having weird issues with negative numbers at registers lower bytes...

Hi uvance,
Welcome to the forum... I think. :)

You don't seem to be in the usual "spamtrap". Temporary glitch, I hope...

Try again. Tell us what you did - command line to Nasm and to linker, if any, etc. Tell us what you expected to happen, and what happened instead... and  stuff...

I can be reached at fbkotler(pig's tail)myfairpoint(decimal point)net - I may or may not be able to help if you continue to have trouble with the forum...

Best,
Frank

Hi Frank.

Thanks for your help. I eventually figured it out with lots of googling.

Basically debugging was a bit compromised because I couldn't see the lower bytes in r8 with r8b in GDB.  For some reason I have to use r8l.

Okay, so more of a GDB issue than a Nasm issue. right? Still. you should be able to ask here! Keep that address in mind if there's anything I can do...

Best,
Frank

Well...

New Topic: Is creating a simple"fantasy" assembly language a productive beginner exercise?

Apparently, "Kleen Talk" Has decided to delete this question.

Code: [Select]
mov dog, [woof]
mov cat, [meow]
mov mouse, [eek]
dog eat dog
cat eat mouse
rag momma rag
all over
my house

No, I don't think this is productive....for a beginner or anyone.

But I am not too keen on "Kleen Talk" for deleting it... apparently without human intervention.

Code: [Select]
cmp [kleen_talk] , byte 0FEh
ja too_much
exit:
too_much:
mov [kleen_talk], byte 0
exit:

Anyone know how we can implement this in real code?

Best,
Frank

'scuse my spelling - Clean Talk

Hi All

I have noticed  much more spam trying to get thru than I have seen before.

One it missed was in a Post I made about the V Language . In a replay there was a link to a spam site, its still there. but this goes all the way back to January .  I am using a Feedreader so I see the spam but in this forum its deleted, so doing a good job.

Thanks for reporting that. I usually catch spam that slips through, have deleted that reply.
