sub-system MS-DOS 16 bits problem

Hi everyone,
I have just download the nasm binary files for win32 and when I try to execute nasm.exe, I have the following error from windows :

"Sub system MS-DOS 16 bits
C:\...\nsm09838\nasm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not compatible to the execution of applications MS-DOS or Miscrosoft Windows. Choose 'close' to end the application."

It seems like if my windows and more precisely my AUTOEXEC.NT file is completly bugged. Anyone has ever had this problem? I think I had to reinstall windows right know or make an update with my windows XP CD. Does anyone has another better solution?
