You're quite welcome, Joe.  It's very evident that you are experienced and are simply trying to learn the x86 way of doing things.
And I highly doubt that an assembler book titled "From MVS to x86 in 24 Hours"  exists to plug in the knowledge gaps.  ;D

Haha yeah I actually said to myself I should write a book like that. Then I realized there would probably only be like 5 customers, so I guess I won't do it after all.

But I may try to throw together a rosetta stone of assembly in the future since I am also wanting to learn Sparc. It might be good for my own learning to write down how stuff is done on various platforms and OS even if nobody else cares.
If you can't code it in assembly, it can't be coded!
