The version number. :)

Seriously, H. Peter Anvin, Chuck Crayne, and Keith Kanios have been hard at work! (a rising vote of thanks all around!)

Between 0.98.39 - the last 32-bit Nasm on SF (0.98.40 is available from Apple) - and 2.0rc1... lots!!! 64-bit support, Mac OSX support, improved speed, improved floating point constant handling, many bugs and potential "gotcha"s fixed. In short, the "complete rewrite" (nearly) that Nasm has needed for years.

Between 0.99.06 and 2.0rc1, mostly bugfixes... and the work is continuing. Get the full story here:

http://repo.or.cz/w/nasm.git

Very latest snapshots are available here:

ftp://ftp.zytor.com/pub/nasm/snapshots

As you can see (?), Nasm 2.0rc2 can be expected fairly shortly!

*Told* ya Nasm wasn't "dead"!

Best,
Frank

0.98.39 is the last "official" 32-bit only version.

0.99 are development versions of 2.0 ...

NASM seems to the the world's only project having a 2.0 but lacking a 1.0 version

Anyway, the arguments for using 2.0 rather than 0.98.39, if you don't need the 64-bit junk, still are pending to be written down and published, if any exist at all ...
