Design a simple one pass assembler

can someone help me going with the design of a simple one pass assembler after its complete i will ask for two pass but as of know please guide me to start a project like deaign a one pass assembler is there good book avilable for that or any resource please help or what are the stpes i need to follow before initiating this project
