Hello! everybody
I just downloaded and installed the stable version of NASM for DOS and Windows but they don't have an IDE. Which IDE should I use? I have installed NASM Develop IDE, MinGW, Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate. I want to know how to configure NASM Develop IDE and Visual Studio 2012 IDE to use NASM. It will be helpful if somebody gives a nasm code to display "Hello! NASM".

I have gathered some resources to help new folks. http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/285068-assembler-getting-started/ (http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/285068-assembler-getting-started/) Links to a few IDE's and various docs.

Gunner,
thank you for the link; it's not only interesting for new nasm coders. :)

Try SASM (http://dman95.github.io/SASM/english.html) - simple cross-platform IDE for NASM, written by me. It supports syntax highlighting, debugger and many other features. SASM works out of the box and is well suited for beginners.

On topic:
NASM Develop IDE looks like it is out of date.
Well, "NASM Develop IDE" sucks, because it requires ".Net Framework 4 Full".
.Net Framework:
+ 1, Against: Net framework is slowest framework on the world, even turtle is faster than it.
+ 1, Against: I can run GUI faster with my calculator, rather than net framework can do.
+ 1, Against: It inserts a lot of registry records - after next boot, can be felt, that system responds a bit a bit slower,
because it needs to bypass net frameworks garbage on registry.
+ 1, Against: I think Linux is more futuristic that MS Windows. MS Windows products get even worse with time. And don't dare to deny that. :D
+ 1, Against: After uninstalling net framework, system feel's poisoned, something is not right anyway.
Okay, if i don't like .net framework, that's my problem anyway. :D

Windows 8: Sucks
Hardware requirements on Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8)
OS doesn't needs 20 GB to be fully operational and supportive.
20 GB sounds like waste of disk space.
20 GB sounds like joke.

+ 1, Against: If you can't extend functionality so - increase size, then it looks like, that something has been done!
OMG, i'm in panic, what i will do when XP 64bit will run out of support.
Bye, OS Windows, i found a solution on youtube. :D
Possible Solution: Q4 OS - Debian Based Windows XP Replacement (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TF-c3CrX2A)
It's not me on the video, it's Spatry.

SASM might be the new hope, something new at least. :)
Is it possible to test windows version without installation?
Unserious thingy: I don't want to install and have malware package included. :D
Thanks, where can i get public portable version for windows and try it without installation?

I added ability to download SASM in zip archive on my site.
Link for download: http://dman95.github.io/SASM/SASM23.zip (http://dman95.github.io/SASM/SASM23.zip)

Doesn't exist. Could you distribute a GoLink version, too? I think this would be a good idea.

Link is old. See new link on the site http://dman95.github.io/SASM/english.html (http://dman95.github.io/SASM/english.html) or in message above. About GoLink I will think. Probably soon I will make version with a lot of assemblers and linkers.

Is there a compiled version as a zip archive, too?

Of course, see on site: "Also you can build SASM from sources, placed in GitHub repository or download SASM in zip-archive (http://dman95.github.io/SASM/SASM231.zip) for Windows."

The download is very slow, but it works. Thanks for the link! I haven't seen it ;D
